Very few bring the same extravagance to live music as Kid Koala, who returns to London for his Vinyl Vaudeville Tour. Look out for puppets, dancing robots, dancing girls, gigantic cardboard turntables and a whole dose of unabashed, infectious silliness. Just don’t make the mistake of focusing solely on the (admittedly outrageous) spectacle, as Kid Koala is also an innovative musician at the peak of his powers. Utilizing an SP1200 sampler, turntables and a multitrack, new album ‘12 bit Blues’ is both raw and rugged, a highly sophisticated yet highly human blast of blues. Pop down to Islington on Thurs 11th of October to catch this loving ode to a long neglected genre live.
We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away. Just drop a tweet @unlike if you fancy it.

According to the United Nation, by 2050 the global population will reach over nine billion. That’s a lot of people. And a lot of mouths to feed.
On Tuesday 15th May, Protein is hosting a forum event that will explore how we might solve the problem, from entomophagy and aquaponic urban farming, to super GM crops and lab-grown meat.
They’re inviting three experts to come and discuss how we might be eating in the next few decades. These include experimental culinary artist and occasional jellymonger Sam Bompas, the team behind Ento, an RCA project looking at how insects can be introduced into the Western diet, and Sam Henderson, co-founder of aquaponics-based urban farm initiative Farm:Shop.
So snag a ticket for the forum and find out if you’ll be adding insect muesli or in-vitro steak to your shopping trolley in 2050.

s[edition] Stakes Bold, New Territory in Art World

Clever beasts that they are, the London-based crew behind the just-debuted s[edition]—a uniquely innovative digital platform for the curation, collection and enjoyment of artworks by some of the industry’s biggest names—has the Unlike team salivating. Featuring the likes of knock-out names, such as Damien Hirst, Shepard Fairey, Isaac Julien and Tracey Emin, s[edition] is setting out to revolutionize the way we interface with art—rather than hanging it on a wall in our home, we instead display it on a flatscreen monitor…or iPad…or iPhone…or whatever digital platform you fancy.

It might be a material world, but the physical just might be on its way out.

London: Smug - A quirky lifestyle store

Sitting proud in Camden Passage in Angel, Smug is a lifestyle boutique packed with quirky one-offs, vintage finds, exclusive products and all the bric-a-brac you could possibly want. It’s set up much like a house, so browse the kitchenware in the makeshift kitchen and peer into cupboards to find that future design classic. Perfect for presents, you’ll want to call this light airy space home.
