In 2011, five independent coffee shops from Berlin teamed up and founded the Berlin Coffee Society (BCS). The mission of the BCS is coffee of course. They aim to inform interested guests about coffee, from growing on the farms in the producing countries, to preparation methods in coffee shops.
For Taste Festival 2012, the current German SCAE Cup Tasting Champion and BCS member, Cory Andreen, will hold a talk about the forgotten taste potentials and qualities of coffee. Single-origin coffees will be freshly brewed cup-for-cup with an old preparation method at the Brew Bar. Guests are invited to explore the many possibilities of coffee. They will also be serving cascara, a coffee cherry tea with a real natural sweetness and notes of plums and raisins, which is little known in Germany.
